The first season introduces us to Eleanor Shellstrop, a woman who after her death, finds herself in the "Good Place" (heaven) due to a case of mistaken identity. As she tries to hide her true nature and avoid being sent to the "Bad Place" (hell), she befriends her assigned "soulmate" Chidi Anagonye (William Jackson Harper), a moral philosophy professor.
